International Meeting 2019

The UK Barchetta Owners Club International Meeting is being held in the East of England in South Suffolk.

 

Based near Stoke-by-Nayland on the Suffolk/Essex border, in an area of outstanding natural beauty.  Details of the full programme are to be finalised and will include the following:

Thursday 22nd August: Arrival at the Stoke-by-Nayland Hotel Golf & Spa, Keepers Lane, Leavenheath, Colchester CO6 4PZ.  Room access from 14.00.

Friday 23rd August: Scenic drive and a visit to Lavenham, a beautifully preserved medieval wool town. Plenty to see and do, including the National Trust timbered guildhall, Little Hall Museum, famous 'wool' church and numerous independent shops, inns and places to eat or enjoy morning coffee.

Drive to village of Long Melford and entry to Kentwell Hall (a privately owned Tudor mansion) for an historical event, recreating Tudor 'High Summer' celebrations, crafts and activities.

Saturday 24th August: - Morning - Scenic drive to Sutton Hoo - famous for its Anglo-Saxon royal burial site, treasure hoard and long-ship burial mounds, with signposted walks, an exhibition centre and access to Tranmer House, the home of the landowner who commissioned the archaeological  digs at Sutton Hoo in the 1930s.  www.nationaltrust.org.uk/sutton-hoo

 

Saturday afternoon: Drive to Aldeburgh on the coast for a visit to this seaside resort. Free time to explore this famous English coastal town, home of the composer Benjamin Britten.

Enjoy a fish and chip lunch on the beach, explore the local pubs and cafes, see the fishermen's huts, selling the daily catch, visit Maggi Hambling's famous Shell sculpture on the beach, check out the historic buildings including the Napoleonic Martello Tower, the Custom House.  www.visit-aldeburgh.co.uk/

 

Return drive to the hotel. 

The hotel is:

  27 miles (44km) from Harwich (ferry route via Hook van Holland)

120 miles (190 km) from Ashford (Le Shuttle terminal)

125 miles (200 km) from Dover.

 

Costs are likely to be in the region of £570 per couple, £390 single, based on 3 nights bed, breakfast and evening meal and entrance to attractions.
